Inappropriate use of antioxidants such as mega-dosing with Vitamin E (> 800 IU) will inhibit tumor shrinkage as beta oxidation is suppressed, thus potent antioxidants would be contraindicated in the buildup of very long chain fatty acids (VLCFAs) and therefore reduced cellular metabolism as in states of aging and toxicity. The administration of DHEA, pregnenolone, or thyroid hormones stimulates the ß-oxidation of VLCFAs, as would nutrients (riboflavin, pyruvate, manganese) as well as oxidative therapies that stimulate oxidation, prostaglandin synthesis and detoxification.
Patients presenting with low serum cholesterol often do not have a positive response with the administration of DHEA or growth hormone as their metabolism is diminished due to catabolism and/or dietary regimes that have failed to meet their basic nutritional requirements. The arbitrary use of DHEA or growth hormone will beta oxidize or burn not just VLCFAs but all the essential fatty acids as well. Antioxidants slow cellular metabolism and must remain in the proper balance with all the essential nutrients and substrates (lipids, protein) to maintain metabolic equilibrium
in lamens terms people on TRT and are taking DHEA, having adrenal fatigue should be careful because low cholesterol usually means low total fats !! This extra burning of fats of people that have altered cellular membranes from low levels of Good fats already may end up causing a greater deficeincy in the long run. I bet this is also common in the second stage of adrenal fatigue where cortisol and dhea are both high and you are burning off essential fats at an incredible rate. Then when stress is prolong your body is already at the bottom barrel and taking DHEA and cortisol to treat the adrenal fatique is only putting of a health risk because there your fats are already in a depleted state..
This is primary reason I emphaiss fatty acid and cell membrane compsition so strongly and how important it is proper treatment of TRT and general health

so you are saying those with adrenal fatigue should definitely avoid DHEA?

No dhea lowers EFAS and most adrenal pateince are low to begin with

This is why I have always taken a common sense, fundamental approach to supplementation. I see all the hot new stuff coming down the pipes, but do not jump on every bandwagon promising new benefits.
GHRT is done to appropriate physiological levels only. That means it's natural levels to begin with.
And my guys get appropriate levels of fats.
Again, all bases always covered.

Not to mention also our own freind that if we had not gotten hold of him and his father step in and intervined he probably would have been DEAD in matter of few months. These so called trainers and nutritional consultant, gym rats who are untrained professionals giving advice to kids to take certain supplements and to eat a certain way to help them lose weight for wrestling should be held repsonsible for the health and wealth being of people they advise. The parents need to get more involved and wack up to the fact if there kid is sucking down 3-4 gallons of water a day and getting up at 5 am to do an hour a half of cardio and barely eating enough caloires to keep an anorexic alive. Then they do not get home till 6pm from the gym drench in sweat from doing another hour of cardio. Now it comes the teachers responsibility to notice that a straight A kid is now recieving C grades and that they can not even function in class. When ever I mention this I cringe to think how many other teenagers or people out there are falling into the same trap not even knowing it?

Run this by me again...
I am on TRT. Have high normal DHEAS, low'ish Cortisol (I believe I have Adrenal issues), Total Chol on lower side and have low'ish "good" cholesterol.
How does this affect any Adrenal and/or Thyroid treatment I undergo?
thanks

When Dhea burns all type of fats bad fats and good fats as well. If you notice alot of people with adrenal fatgiue as primary issue have low triglyceride, low cholesterol, and low lipids usually. When you are stressed goes into a catabolic state so it becomes hypermetabolic at first and will use deplete your storage of minerals as well as amino, essential fat. If a person that has been stressed most likely (with proper testing RBC fatty acid) they will have a low EFA ratio or altered some way or how. Adding DHEA to an already exhausted supply of EFA's may cause a person to burn up an already low reserve to begin with. So all I am saying is make sure you have enough good fats in diet to prevent this from happening..
