A few times a day my eyes will spasm (twitch like crazy). I have high cortisol so I'm thinking that is the reason, but I have also learned that calcium deficiency can cause eye twitching.

I consume no dairy and my multi vitamin doesn't have calcium... should i be supplementing?

Has anyone here had success in lowering cortisol (via blood or urine) on supplements? I feel like i need some extra help in this area.

I have been experiencing a similar thing for the last 2+ weeks. My right eye lid at the outside corner has been twitching slowly and sometimes fast for a majority of the day for the last 2+ weeks. I am suspecting mine is from slow adrenals/salt wasting/dehydration. I don't know where my cortisol levels are at, but I hopefully will get labs done at the end of the month.

I have low adrenals and salt wasting with dehydration and never had this problem. If I were you I would have this checked if it's going on everyday.

Thanks for the replies guys. I'm going to talk to Dr. John in a few weeks to discuss my second Rhein panel that I just finished. So I'll wait to talk to him about it.

I have same outside corner of right eye fast twitching and when I told my girlfriend about it, she said she's this too on occasion, but mine is pretty much an everyday thing for about a month now.

I don't know about you guys above having this, but I sure have severe anxiety too >>>adrenal fatigue.......maybe.

What annoys me about AF is that I haven't found any M.D. who believe there truly is such a thing as AF--I discussed this with my internist not long ago, and needless to tell you he was reluctant to acknowledge the notion, and he said that having people run on low dose HC can be VERY dangerous and can mess the HPTA--he said some people never fully recover full HPTA after they've been on HC or Prednisone for a while however slow you wean them off of it.

What do I think of all this ? Can't tell you, cause at this point I no longer have much of an opinion on this AF thing. Well, it makes sense to me that AF is possible, BUT why in the world even internists don't seem to recognize this to be the real thing ? They have 10 times the medical education I have if not more, so I'd figure they get a much clearer idea of the big picture..........

I'm speechless.....

On the other hand you have Dr.'s that keep doing testing to show you have this AF. I don't know what to tell you I have talked to a lot of people on the boards with AF and some just change there life style and get on some supplements and do better. Where othes need to be on Cortef 25 mgs a day doing 10mgs in the morning because they are so low when they wake and 5 mgs every 4hrs there after.

I have Dr. Jefferies book safe uses of Cortisol and I read this front to back before starting on Cortef. Best thing I ever did now I can get through winter without being sick all winter long with Bronchitis and Sinus Infections.

I also have talked to a lot of people at STTM that come off HC and were fine after doing it to support there adrenals for about 6 months. Some had to go back on it because they did not change there life style.

I am Hypopituitary so I need to my pit. does not tell my adrenals to work good enough.

In your case Phil, I more than understand why you're on HC, and it's proved to be highly beneficial no doubt since as you said you can go through winter without having any bronchitis, which is big !

I think many docs recognize AF but don't call it this way : they call it stress. However stress and the adrenals are tightly bound, so common sense tells me that if one has unremitting stress, poor eating habits, poor lifestyle, then adrenals might lag behind or get somewhat exhausted if one spends too much time in Fight or flight/SNS dominance. One other indication why Magnesium benefits those with AF.

Having said that, I my pcp would never see eye to eye with me--I'm sure she's find this to be quack medicine. I could swap pcp, but all of them are alike in my area--it's SO frustrating. I can no longer afford to consult in the U.S. as I have a lot of other things to pay off, and what's more having a Dr. in the U.S. isn't very convenient to me. I wish I could, but just can't. So I have to manage with those I can find here and in this neighboring city--I'll probably have to migrate to the next city--much larger and with better health care too ! There I think I can find more open minded M.D.s

It really suck to do battle with primary care provider who think they know ALL, and I nothing.

Thanks Phil
