I am a lean guy who in the past had no trouble gaining muscle. My problem was keeping enough fat in my diet to burn.
I am looking for good fats that I can take and also how much is too much of these good fats. Am I going to throw anything out if I have too much of one type of fat and not enough of the other? I definately need to supplement them because i have always had real trouble getting enough through diet alone, and I have a super fast metabolism.
I have been told im allergic to eggs and dairy which makes it difficult. I will go back on these if I have to because im not sure that going off them makes me feel any better. So in the past I have always mixed my shakes with milk, so can i just mix it with water and some kind of good fat? Im thinking of a shake with carbs and protein and lots of other goodies, but i will add some more carbs too. The fat is my biggest concern.
I want to keep my liver healthy and easy digestion if I can and ive been told a lot of milk is not a good idea.
Any help would be appreciated....

consider adding nuts, avacado, olive oil, flax and flax products, fish oil, occasionally fish (I take the heavy metal concerns seriously). Instead of dry cooking your chicken breasts, cook them in grape seed oil. Its got higher burning point than olive oil. It also adds a slightly nutty flavor that you may enjoy.

To find out what fats you really need do
http://www.gdx.net/home/assessments/fattyacids/index.html
Essential & Metabolic Fatty Acid
You may want to look at results of my analysis here:
http://anabolicminds.com/forum/male-anti-aging/77385-jansz-metabolic-analysis.html
On a first page, right under name of fatty acid, there is a short list of foods that supply it. Say Omega-9 --> Olive oil
Note that I am high in Omega-3, many people are not, you newer know where you are unless tested.
Lots of advertisements pushes omega-3, I do not need them.

IIRC you are in Australia,
Look here fo contact info:

In UK this test can be had without script, just credit card.

You may want to throw in allergy test:

Don't buy into the low fat / "bad animal fat" unproven theories...

(Excellent book to read on the subject of dietary fats... and written up by a "a nutritionist/biochemist of international renown for her research on the nutritional aspects of fats and oils, is a consultant and clinician" who is also the "Director of the Nutritional Sciences Division of Enig Associates, Inc.", Silver Spring, Maryland. Dr. Enig, a consultant on nutrition to... industry, and state and federal governments, is a licensed practitioner in Maryland and the District of Columbia and has served as a Contributing Editor of the scientific journal Clinical Nutrition and a Consulting Editor of the Journal of the American College of Nutrition"... very well written and an excellent read).

The 2 best fats are fish oil and olive oil, olive oil has pain relieving properties and I feel better when I have it like I do with fish oil.
Don't cook with it though, put it on your food after its cooked.
The best olive oil is extra virgin first cold pressed, in a dark bottle to protect it from light, and apparently the darker the olive oil the better.

I know this is an old thread, but I just found my way here (Thank JanSz!) and I felt like posting up a recommendation for Coconut Oil.
I take 1 Tbsp often 60 mins before bed and I find it helps me (Coconut Oil is almost 80% saturated fats, short chain with a variety of health benefits. For some info check out any of the links via Google http://www.google.ca/search?hl=en&q=Coconut+Oil+Health+Benefits&meta= .
