Hi all,
I have my own thread to discuss my progress and treatment but wanted to start another to cover this one specific topic.
I have been on T (only) for about 1.5 years. I'm 37.5 years old now. My pre-treatment total T was about 200, now it is about 900 (Quest 1100 scale).
I feel healthy, improved energy, libido, confidence, sense of wellbeing. These were reasons for starting treatment and so in this sense it is a success.
I have been lifting weights for 15 years, never used AAS. My body was already pretty cut before I started treatment, now I have added 10 pounds of muscle I am pretty ripped. I weight about 185 now. This has been a nice side effect but was not a factor in getting treated.
I've noticed in comparing photos of my face from before treatment to now, that there have been facial changes. My face looks more mature -- thicker stubble after shaving, more square pronounced jaw. Subjectively my face looks older and more serious and probably less good looking than before. I also find my voice has grown deeper.
I had a seemingly normal puberty so I was somewhat surprised to see these effects. I want to ask about others experiences and whether these changes are due to increase in muscle mass on my face and vocal chords, more bone growth or what? Does it indicate my dosage is too high?
I appreciate any comments.
Thanks,
Mark

Maybe for you this was T dependent, but for my family genetics this was just normal aging. When I was in my 20's I looked very much like my Dad when he was in his 20's, and now that I'm 42 I look very much like my Dad when he was 42.
That includes changes to forehead shape and nose shape and jaw shape.
But my Dad has never boosted his T levels, and he suffered from the same symptoms of low T after the age of 30 as I did.
In other words, we both underwent our facial structural changes despite low T.
###
I think these sorts of changes are GH-and-genetics related, not T related.

Funny you mention that, but I can totally relate and agree to that.
I look much like my father did in his 20's as well, and physically we are nearly identical (both about 5'7' round 150lbs.)
We have similar features of having higher T, but also having low GH. My grandpa as well.
I think low GH is probably a genetic trait inherent to my dads side.
Obviously I'm the only one who had his GH levels tested. At age 26 I measured a 130 IGF-1 score (126-386). A second score put me at 160.
FYI, my grandpa and all my uncles died in their 50's. My dad made it to 64.
All similar fates - Back and joint problems in their 40's, leading to physical inactivity and heart disease in their 50's.
It's pretty cool to think I will be the first one who won't suffer the same fate. :sifone:

Mark, you are definitely not the first person to have this. In fact, it is quite common.
Many guys who have had hypogonadism at a youngish age probably always had subpar T levels for their age.
Enjoy it and relish in it.
I think people like you are becoming much more common.

I haven't noticed facial changes that I thought were anything other than normal aging, but when I was on shots my voice had a slightly lower pitch. Both on TD and shots, I have more considerably more body hair.
I have acquired enough additional hair on my knuckles and the backs of hands so that I now have gorilla hands - something I always admired as a kid.
On shots, but not on TD, my beard growth accelerated a lot so that I had to shave 2X day during the week when I was going into the office. I had a "five o'clock" shadow by noon.

Ive noticed that alot of the people who say they use GH have some noticeable facial changes. People like Sylvester Stallone, who have really had face changes. If you look at hist face its like it grew another face on top of it, its just odd looking. Suzanne Somers has a tad bit of too, while still being damn hot for her age. It just makes it seem like the facial bones have grown a bit.
Maybe im just seeing things, but it seems to pop up in a lot of people who have expressed their use of GH, not to say its a bad thing. For guys a more defined jaw line and cheek bones are said to be indicative of power and success, much like tallness.

Thanks for the feedback guys. What was surprising to me is that my changes occurred in the space of 1.5 years of treatment.
I looked pretty masculine in my 20's and of course I look older now I'm 37 than I did then. What I didn't expect was a noticeable change in my face since starting TRT less than 2 years ago.
I guess I'm not complaining. If that's part of the price of a more vibrant and full life, then I'll pay it. I just wasn't expecting it.

Mark, I definitely look a little thicker all over and healthier. Not sure about any changes in hair growth despite much higher T and DHT and GH. I still shave every other day at most.
I used to think looking leaner was more attractive but now I think the athletic look is what I aspire to now. My face seems larger, more filled out, and my neck is bigger, arms bigger, legs a little thicker.
When we get older it will help to be carrying the extra muscle.
One obvious change is that I can't sing high any more. You know, when you sing in the car? My voice isn't capable of it and it sounds aweful. I don't think my voice is deeper but there is a restriction with getting my voice high. My throat tightens up immediately. If this isn't T related I don't know what it is.

I read this is because he has been using the new GHRT protocol that you are going to do!

On TV I was watching Hollywood's best and worst beach bodies. I am surprised more of the men aren't keeping up, those that are my age-47.
They have all the money in the world and don't look to be dedicated to preserving their bodies like some women are. I find that odd.

Probably tough to do Bob - When your loaded, beautiful women are at your beck and call regardless of what you look like.
Still, one guy I am VERY impressed with is Hugh Jackman. This dude looks flippin pheeee-nominal. The guy has probably the best bod in Hollywood, and is 43 years old.
He is set to play Wolverine.
Then again, he isn't American, which figures

I have always been concerned about my Test., E2, & Thyroid I never really thought about my IGF-1. I searched back through my tests and over a year ago my Somatodemin-C was 113 ng/ml. It didn't give a range but both Labcorp and Quest show that as low. I need to ask about testing that again. I have no workout stamnia. I get sick if I just workout a little bit hard.
I have noticed that lately my two front teeth have started to separate. I am not sure what is causing that. It kind of bothers me and has me wondering if it HRT or just something natural happening in my mouth.

I look better facially (and physically) now at 39 than I have my entire life. My GF was recently looking at some 5 year old pics of me and said "Was that you?". I look totally different now - so much so that friends and even family who haven't seen me for a few years make comments. Most of it IMHO is that I am leaner and in much better shape and I have lost that puffy look to my face, but that is largely because my T levels are at a point that ALLOW me to workout and recover better. Of course, I had almost ZERO T and feel that those levels had been in the basement for a long, long time and that my estro levels (along with a bad diet) added tothe puffy look in my face. I was a late bloomer and feel I never had adequate T levels, even though I was athletic and able to play major college sports growing up. Anyway, back on topic, I do not believe my facial bone structure has changed, but I DO believe having higher T levels had given me a more masculine look. I also have to attribute a MUCH cleaner dieat and healthier lifestyle, but this all goes hand in hand IMHO. I am enjoying looking YOUNGER as I get older. My GF, who just turned 27, enjoys the fact that her 39yr old boyfriend is commonly mistaken for being 29 or 30. I can't tell you I am upset about losing a decade off my looks either. :) I am happy with what TRT has helped me achieve not only health-wise, but physically too.

i'm on the standard TRT protocol and haven't tried GH but i also notice similar changes.
one thing i noticed very early on was deepening of my voice. then i noticed my muscles filling out. i never realized how deflatted i looked before. i'm sure some of it was water but alot was muscle.
i'm not naturally a hairy guy but i started growing more on my shoulders and back. par for the course....
i also noticed changes in my face. i'm still working on my Liquidex dosage so part of that is water retension so my cheeks look a little puffy right now. i'm sure the facial muscles develop and thicken so that can slightly alter appearance.

I have noticed since being on TRT that my already lean body became leaner.
Naturally, fat was lost everywhere - abs, back AND face. I'm thinking that this loss of fat may be the major contributor to why I think I look older.
Oh well - again, this is a tradeoff that I should be OK to live with :-)
