While I will only provide the allthingsmale community with a single link, there are many anecdotal reports out there from arimidex users, citing weight gain (albeit using much larger doses than what would be employed within orthodox HRT circles), and I would be interested in hearing your input on this topic. Although evidence citing the physiological reasoning behind the weight gain isn't fully provided by the medical researchers, it would intuitively follow that a reduction of circulating e2 would result in less water weight, e2 related body fat distribution, etc. which tend to reduce weight, not cause weight gain?

All in all, reinforcing Dr. J's position that when HRT is properly implemented, and AI shouldn't be necessary.

First I will say that I didn't read the article yet but this is my experience with arimidex.

I use compounded anastrozle. I am one of the patients that had low T along with excessive E2 from the beginning. I am 27 years old and have been on TRT for 2 years. I didn't start anastrozole until fall last year.

I have found that when taking it usually with the first week - week and half I can lose up 10 lbs and what seems to be just water weight. I notice every time that I have increased the dose or upped the days of taking it.

I have also found that once my body is acclimated to the dose that same water weight seems to return. However, I would not say that I notice weight gain from it. I notice immediate water loss and then it's return soon thereafter.

now that I think of it just to add, I have noticed the reduction of E2 related fat distribution (chest and stomach/love handles) but once again returns once my body is acclimated ( whether it's fat or water I am not 100% certain)

Just to play devil's advocate...against my own post, it is important to consider the excessive doses of arimidex, as per daily dose (>1mg) in breast cancer patients. HRT guys who do use arimidex probably don't go over 1mg per week! Probably, HRT guys on ADEX less than 1mg per week willn't have to deal with weight related side effects of adex in breast cancer patients, because of the low dose HRT patients are exposed too.

That is amazing to me. Plenty of T and plenty of Arimidex hasn't budged my weight one pound for over 70 weeks. Plenty of weights before tearing my rotator cuffs too.

i lost over 10 lbs ...

but one thing everyone should remember about weight: its meaningless!

a pound of fat and a pound of muscle don't look the same even though
they weigh the same ...

I've noticed less bodyfat and more muscle while on arimidex and my
weight has gone down 10 lbs ...

but the big change is that my pants don't fit ... my belt has run out of
notches ...

still not 'ripped' but better than before.

1) Male E2 metabolism is vastly different from female E2 metabolism.

2) Male HRT dosages of arimidex are vastly different from female breast cancer patient dosages.

These reference points do not apply to males.

If the problem does occur in males, then it's still interesting, but I doubt these examples apply.

Something does not add up.

Your weight is down 10#
your pants do not fit, belt ran out of notches.

you can both loosen and tighten a belt ... lost a lot of the
bellyfat so the belt is now too big, needs to be tightened or
more holes added ...
