My current physician after recieving an MRI on my spine, informed me that I have degenerative bone disease in my spine. When I asked him what I could do for this; he informed me that there was little I could do other than keep my wieght down and exercise. I'm wondering if any of you have idea's about this or have heard of any treatments out there? I've had a couple of people on other forums suggest peptides or hormone replacement therapy and would like to hear anyone's opinions on this advice.

Did your doctor check your hormones such as testosterone?

Not yet; I'm going back in to see him on Monday and am going to suggest that; for the second time. Up this point my MD has been reluctant to move in this direction; let me check that comment. I'm not sure if he's reluctant or just lazy. This Mondays appointment will be the turning point in our relationship. If he does what I ask; then I'll keep him, if not I'm going to be searching for a new Dr. In your opinion what should I tell him I want to be tested for?

Bone disease like osteopenia or osteoporosis? Or bone disease like arthritis or stenosis?

Hormone replacement can help with bone mineral loss.

If you're talking about spinal arthritis, he's right - weight control, exercise, etc.

He did not specify which one he thinks it is; they sent me a letter from the labs and after that I scheduled an appointment. I'm going in Monday and I will get more specifics from him and post them back on here.

Why was the MRI done?

Usually, the MRI is for looking at soft tissue - like if they wanted to see if you had disc disease.

Are you having symptoms?

Dude--What kind of a dirtbag are you?

You give Chiropractors a bad name.

Adios.

A model bone disease and mineral metabolism protocol was developed as the standard for comparison. From the model protocol, an instrument was created to evaluate eight key areas (baseline screening of key laboratory data, dietary intervention, phosphate-binder use, vitamin D use, monitoring of key laboratory indicators, management of hypercalcemia, oversuppression of parathyroid hormone.
