Hey guys-- I am new to the forum. I have been suspicious of a hormone imbalance for quite some time now (I am 24), and finally made it a point to my doc to get some tests completed. My energy level has hit rock bottom, my mood fluctuates like crazy during the day (depression, anxiety etc.). I have started educating myself on the science behind all of this and feel like I am starting to grasp the basics. The results are interesting, and are fairly consistent with my expectations. A few interesting observations: Test levels and andro are very low, however pregnanetriol levels are off of the charts. Estrogens seem to be in order. The abnormally low 5-a-Reductase levels scare me a bit, as I know they are attributed to certain developmental issues (which I don't appear to possess). I am assuming this also indicates a low DHT conversion as well.

Now a little more personal background: I had a varicocele operation about 10 years ago. High anxiety has been a burden for as long as I can remember, and I do realize that it can wreak havoc on the adrenals. Also, my adrenaline seems to pump in excess throughout the day leaving me quite fatigued at times. Other than that, I am a very healthy guy-- eat very well, maintain a strong vitamin/supplement regimen, decent exercise routine, etc.

I have reached a breaking point. My body has been telling me something for years. The doc has been very understanding, and has encouraged me to find a specialist (Dr. C seems like the ultimate), to help me understand the meaning behind everything. I am planning on scheduling a visit to the man cave asap, as well as obtaining further blood-work that Dr. C requires.

I have spent some late nights browsing through the forum posts and it seems like this is a great place to get advice and share such interest. Now to my results: Chime in if you notice anything interesting, I cannot tell you how much I would appreciate your feedback!

The fact that your etiocholanolone is so high spells genetic disorder to me.

Which means all the rules re "high" this and "low" that are out the window.

You really need to meet with Dr Crisler as soon as you can.

Thanks for your reply Chillin-- I did find it strange that the etiocholanolone was so high yet androsterone was so low, both being the major DHEA metabolites (which was also very low). The genetic possibility is interesting and I will continue to look into this. I will contact Dr. Crisler this week, as I can only imagine how complicated all of this is.

Thanks for the info JanSz-- I've checked this out earlier and am still at a loss as the symptoms of many of the possible disorders really don't match up to mine.

Take a look at my yearly blood test list.

If you are able, have it done and post results.
If you expect to have insurance pay for the test, read the part about ICD-9 codes. Have many of them included in your script.

Thanks again JanSz-- That looks like a great test, one that might help explain my results on a deeper level. I'll make sure to get this completed and let you know how it turns out.
