Since making a few minor adjustments in HRT it has made all the difference in the world. Since adding in more DHEA (20 to 50 mgs) to bring things back cortisol/dhea ratio into balance to that of normal 30 year old the results have been nothing short of miraculous. My bench has sored back to close to nearly 400 and the weight that I was struggling with 4 weeks ago on leg press is starting to feel like a feather. I could have probably hit 500 on the squat for a few reps, but with the cold weather I did not want to push it because my adductor felt tweaked from doing the leg press racked with plus a person on top. So finally things are getting back to balance. I think the lesson that I have learned is that if one hormone is that of a 30 year old then all the others have to be at the same level to feel the full benefits from one's HRT. My body is changing on a daily basis. As for diet i upped my EVOCC to 3 TBSP a day then alternate EVOO one day and hemp the other day with 4 raw organic eggs per day. No fish oils for me because genetically I have an over load of them due to some metabolic abnormality. 3 years no fish oils and eating no fish my levels are at top end..Go figure..Right now I am trying to push up my cholesterol levels from 115 to 150 to help stablize the cell membrane inorder to regain its intregity. If one has low cholesterol cell membranes become weake and very flexible letting every thing in the cell including enviormental toxins that should be kept out..My DHEA was 220 and it appear to be in a good range for my age, but upon further research one needs to have optimal ranges not normal. No way do I want to be an average sick, fat and over weight american, but a healthly and functional one. So I found the range of a 30 year old and it goes to 500. From now on I am throwing out the age ranges and going with what i want to feel like not what the norm is. No wonder people are slipping through the cracks because "the normal ranges" come from people that are sick, fat , stressed and depressed americans

Indeed there is a lots of crap going around about DHEA.
I would like to see how many people got to (500-640) while using 25 or 50mg.

Jansz,
As you know my DHEA is at 69 on a 5 -1476 ug/24 hours on Rheins. Darn low.
My doctor said to take 25 mg twice per day. If that doesn't get my levels up to a good level I will talk to the doctor about dose.
Interesting that Rhein range is huge, 5 to 1476 ug/24 hrs. The midrange is 740 ug/24 hrs. I wonder how to compare Rheins range to serum range?
What is a good range to be in for Rhein DHEA ?

Rhiens had me low mid range, but i was off cortisol for 2 weeks and had no worked out for 10 days. i burn through cortisol like crazy ..so my reserves are fine if i was a damn couch potatoe .That is not what i call living at all.

Why do people take it? What does it do? Is it a prescription med? Any dangers? sides?
I know it is often measured, but really don't quite understand it.

I switched from sublingual 25mg to capsules 50mg because I was sick of the taste... big mistake... it dropped 100 points! Switching back to 25mg sub 2x day.

I think Dr John has it available now. On the medication page from his website it has DHEA Troches (Compounded) #60 .

Take any DHEA you want.
Pills, transdermal, sublingual, anything.
Do the blood test.
If you get DHEAs (500-640) end of story.
The rest is just a talk.

Urine is a body waste.
Some people waste more other waste less,
some people waste fast, other waste slow,
what counts is what is in the blood.

That probably i responded to the TD dhea too so good
I need cortisol because I burn it so fast, but needed the proper dhea to balance out its negative sides...My goal is 550 on the dhea levels. I also notice if I do not eat red meat or 4 organic eggs for a few days I feel like crap as well. I am probably burn alot of arachidonic acid from weight training. Also I boil my red meat in water then strain it so that probably lowers the AA content as well. How much AA is in organic eggs? I might just take x factor at 2 pills a day for good measures. I did feel like a million bucks on that stuff even at 2 pills a day

I'm of the opinion that eggs are natures perfect food. Loaded with full spectrum vitamin E, cholesterol, healthy fats and Omega 3 fatty acids, and a whole host of other things. And no carbohydrates.
I have an egg or two every single day for breakfast.

sounds good, I feel similar
I need my meat or I waste away
I wonder if I had to take DHEA too when I was on cortisol. I really didn't like cortisol, the way it affected my psychological profile, or how it made the body a bit unnatural in sports.
As I say, there's likely a similar scenario for most hypothyroid people, at least when it comes to similar gender. We're both hypo and react to similar stuff.
How much cortisol do you take daily? I was doing 5mg cortef in morning, 5mg at lunch.
And you're still on a very low amount of armour right? around 1.5 grains? I'm at 1.5-2.0 grains on average.
The only major difference between us is I can bench maybe 200, and I'm stick thin, and you're probably much larger and double my bench! That's my goal, to be more like you physically.

What you are saying is that urine testing for DHEA is inferior to serum testing. And by extension the same argument would make any hormone or metabolite urine result inferior to serum test.
I wonder why Dr John prefers urine testing for those on TD T then.

I think it's because our various conditions cause cell death or damage more quickly than the average person.
So we just go through a buffet of protein every day trying to keep up.
There are many people who do just fine on veggies, but only when they don't have any apparent underlying issues.

Could explain my higher than normal shbg and also dangerous low cholesterol levels despite doing eating more cholesterol and fat then the average fat slob and still reamining low. I have been this way all my life !! My lowest was 90 and dr said THAT is fantastic. Now when I see that idiot I kick him in the nuts so he knows how I really feel about him as a DR. Cholesterol is used to repair cell damage so I think you are on something or I may have an overactive enyzme that breaks down cholestrol.. manganse defieincy has also been identified as well on tissue tests and that is show to lower serum cholesterol. Or I may have a compeition of minerals blocking it or the milk thistle can also deplete ferritin and manganese storages

correct
check this:
http://www.spacedoc.net/statins_muscle_cell_repair
maybe he's crazy, but I would look into stuff like that, research into the damage from Lipitor for example
Because if your cholesterol is low, it'd be similar in how a person on dangerously high amounts of statins/statin side effects would be. Therefore, the healing methods of people who suffer from statin side effects, may be the same gateway you need to use.
I suffer it seemingly harder than you, as my body wastes away really fast, and burns calories at an insane amount. I'm thinking maybe I have to do the 4 eggs a day as well. I'm MUCH more healthy when I eat tons of sunflower oil potatoe chips & oils.

HAN,
are you still using the GHRP-6? How does that fit in with the increase in DHEA dose (if I'm not mistaken, increasing DHEA increases IGF-1...?)? Now that it's been a while since you were using the GHRP-6, can you reflect on it's effects a little more? The concept of GHRP-6 greatly intrigues me, especially considering the rate (read: SLOW) of recovery of my ACL-reconstruction surgery...

Your slow rate of surgery is most likely do your low adrenal function. Cortisol is used by the body for healing inflammation. If you have low cortisol levels then your body will heal incredible slow. As I stressed before DO NOT START GHRT untill adrenals are in check because it will make you more fatigued.

HAN, is the new protocol increasing your appetite? I have heard about GHRP-6 doing that and I know that the HGH has increased mine. I feel like I have the appetite of a shark and get hungry again soon, although I haven't gained any weight. It takes a lot more food to get me full.
Have you noticed a change in appetite?

I stopped the GHRT for 3 weeks because of seeing where my igf-1 is with balancing out the cortisol/dhea .. Why take a drug when I do not need it..If my igf-1 level is below 250 I will start back up again.
