On Saturday I am switching from gel Test Cyp injections 100. Since I have to do this myself is there any reason I can't inject it into my thigh?

Your doctor should tell you where to, and show you how to inject (or a qualified nurse should show you how). But the thighs should be fine.

Could not agree with that statement more. I brought my wife with me and they(nurses) showed her how to do glute injections. I alternate glutes and quads.

Check spotinjections.com and believe it or not, watch some vids on youtube. Helped me feel more comfortable about the whole process.

My first few shots, I was nervous as hell. After 7 months, it's no big deal. Wish I would have started sooner.

I don't want my wife jabbing me in the ass with needles though! LOL.....

I've been shooting T cyp for 1 month now. I do it in the outer thigh (mid level), alternating legs. Seems to be working well for me. I use a 28g 1/2" 1ml insulin syringe. Kind of a pain to draw the oil into the syringe.

What size syringe will you be using?

Why don't you just use a larger syringe to fill it from the back? Quick and easy as pie.

You guys are masochists...

You can easily use a much smaller needle with the same results IM. My doc has me doing subQ with no loss in effectiveness.

Who the hell wants to stick a fishing harpoon in their leg?

25 gauge 1" is not a harpoon. It is actually quite painless in the thigh. And you don't have to sit there forever to inject the oil like you do with the smaller needles. I honestly understand why everyone fusses so much about these needles and IM injections.

Now, if you are injecting ever 3 days or every other day you would probably want to use smaller needles if possible. But for weekly injections they are no big deal.

Besides, whatever Dr. John tells me to do, is what I do.

Thigh was my favourite.

27ga 5/8" needle presuming you don't have much fat. Don't push too hard, let the needle do the work. If you dart it, it'll hurt!

Inject it slowly.

Those using 25ga and 23ga, you're crazy. 25ga hurt enough!

Its a 22ga needle 1/14". I could get my wife to do it but she really doesn't want to. I was just afraid of hitting a vein or artery in my leg.

Ouch.
Buy some smaller needles!!

Just make sure when you inject that you aspirate. Pull the syringe back, if you see bubbles you're good to go, if you see blood, start again.

I wouldn't use that needle in your thigh. You can order some smaller needles on-line from Hocks.com. You get 100 for less than $16. Draw with the large needle and then swap for the smaller one for the injection.

25 gauge don't bother me at all in the thigh, plus I know for sure it's into the muscle where it is supposed to be. The first 4 thigh shots left me a little sore but now I basically feel nothing almost every time.

The problem I have with thigh injections is doing leg workouts and the leg being really sore around the injection site.
IMO the gluteal is the best injection site for the oil based Test.
I have found if you warm the bottle up before your injection it flows better.

Thanks Bulldog, I went to the site. They have 25ga from 5/8 to 1 1/2 inches. Which one would work best? I found a YouTube video from a Dr Runels who shows the procedure. He recommends a 27ga 1/12 needle for the least pain.

I personally use 1" for thighs.

One bit of procedure I rarely see mentioned is,after you draw the oil, hold the needle pointing up and squeeze a small drop that runs down the needle. This serves to lubricate the needle as it penetrates.Personally I like to insert the needle as quickly as I can, while maintaining control.I do this considering the much greater tissue damage caused by a low velocity bullet compared to a high velocity bullet. As with almost everything else,it probably varies from person to person.

I tried the "dart" method but don't like it on my thighs. I just insert it at a medium pace with no hesitation. I usually have no pain at all.

Insulin needles into the muscle between the hip and pelvis are painless. Works well for up to 0.5 ml at a time if you stab twice and inject 0.25 ml per stab.

To fill up quickly, take out plunger and use large bore needle to insert oil from back.

If I were a little more flexible I would do it myself; but, I don't mind it and my wife does not mind it either. I think she takes a sick pleasure in it when she is mad at me.

LOL.....I DO! Actually, I don't think I will ever forget that. It was not something I expected. But in all honestly, it made me much more comfortable with the idea of giving myself an injection.

Those would be the times when I would not want her anywhere near me with a 1.5" needle!

I use an 18 gauge x 1 inch BD Luer Lock syringe to draw the oil, then switch to a 25 gauge x 1 inch to inject into the thigh. I use a 3 ml BD Luer lock syringe. I also use a frozen yogurt stick (Yoplait Gogurt) to numb the injection site for about 5 mins or so. Anything frozen works, but the yogurt is small enough that I don't freeze a big area. While I'm doing that, I hold the syringe between my fingers to warm the oil. My wife does the injecting (I tried it a couple times but its just hard to stab yourself). When numbed, I don't feel a thing. I've tried it without numbing the area, but, then I feel the jab and it hurts. Be careful not to leave the ice on the skin very long or you could damage your skin. Unless your legs are extremely big, I can't see any need for a 1 1/2 inch needle, 1 inch is plenty. A 27 gauge might work too, just a little harder to push the oil through, but, the difference from 25 to 27 isn't much, and since it's numb, I don't feel it anyway.
