My problem right now is if I exert my body in any way throughout the day, instead of getting tired, my body and mind races and I can't get to sleep.

So I have been running PS for awhile to see if this helps. But it isn't doing anything.

So I'm thinking maybe my cortisol is just running really low and I am running on adrenaline at night and that is my problem.

Any thoughts on this?

Also all of these problems started 5 or so years ago during my want-to-be bodybuilder days. When I was way overusing ECA's and burnt myself out.

So I think I may have a seratonin problem.

Thanks

Phosphatidylserine (PS) lowers cortisol.
You must not use PS if your cortisol is within range or low

I suggest that you do 2-3 (4x)saliva tests in consecutive days.
On one of those days do also
24hr urine test at RheinLabs

Jan, I was running the PS because I thought my cortisol was high.

But now that it isn't working, I'm thinking it is just really low. And that I'm running on adrenaline.

I've done 2 saliva tests and same thing both times. Only low in morning, normal the rest of the time.

But I always take the test on regular days. Never on the type of days that are giving me trouble.

If I have a normal day, no exercise, I don't have any problems.

PS is used to lower Cortisol.

You test shows that you have a low Cortisol.

Why have you assumed high Cortisol?
-----------------
Stop using PS, it is making your situation worse.

Instead try 10mg-HC at the wakeup time.

Observe how you feel, specially 2.5-4 hrs after the 10mg-HC dose.

If you feel sleepy or low energy, take another 10mg-HC.

==========
Important

if you take up to 40mg-HC/day without actually needing it
nothing negative is going to happen, except you will have less $$.

Above statement would be stronger if you had 24hr urine test from RheinLabs,
indicating normal 24hr Cortisol.

Post a chart with results of saliva test.

I have similar problems as you.

I tested high for histamine. Histamine is cleared by your body via adrenaline so high histamine leads to high adrenaline. But the body can't keep adrenaline going forever so eventually you have a crash and get tired. For me, usually after dinner. Unfortunately, for me the cycle starts again and I have trouble sleeping.

I have removed folic acid, GPC/Choline from my diet and added L-methinone and TMG to try to lower histamine levels. I also need to watch my red wine and red meat intact.

It's not perfect yet, but it is helping.

I'm also tested low for serotonin and have added 5-htp at night.

I believe PS can be useful for those with adrenal dysfunction as well. PS is good to prevent your adrenals from overworking due to stress... I use it before workouts... along with 20mg HC. The PS blunts the stress response. The end result is less cortisol/adrenaline spike afterward. I notice a big difference. I have a big problem with "running on adrenaline" and it causes me severe insomnia. I also tested high histamine... for that I take sam-e, nettle, quercetin

I believe PS can be used to try to 're-set' an out of cycle cortisol
situation as described ...

basically, low cortisol in the am and high cortisol at night ... leads
to vicious cycle of daytime sleepiness and nighttime insomnia and
restlessness ...

so take PS with dinner or after dinner ... it should start reducing
nighttime cortisol ... don't do anything that 'wakes you up' ... brush
teeth after dinner ... turn off computer ... don't read ... meditate
and listen to quiet/soothing music ... you might find yourself sleeping
at 9 and waking up at 3 but its a beginning ...

eventually you should be able to push your high nighttime cortisol into
the am where it belongs ...

Bummer about those not-so-useful saliva tests. But we all learn the hard way sometimes.

If you're low on cortisol, you'll probably have puffy eyes in the morning, and / or you'll be getting either brain fade or yawns at some time during the day.
