I have been checking my blood sugar every now and then for a few years, everything with my BS has been fine. Please see below for findings after a normal meal.

4 whole eggs
2 slices Ezekiel Toast with natural butter from the dairy
half plate green beans
1 whole grapefruit

1 hour after 110
2 hours after 99
3 hours after 88
4 hours later 87

This week I started taking NOW Super Enzymes, digestive enzymes and Chromium Picolinate and my BS is screwy. I ate the same meal, but now my results are much different

Current
1 hour after 108
2 hours after 134
3 hours after 101
4 hours after 95

This is super weird throughout the past few years of random testing my BS has never been above 124. I am not sure what is going on, if it is the digestive enzymes or the chromium? Am I digesting food much better, too fast is it the chromium?? My blood sugar used to raise after an hour and start dropping after 2 hours. Now it is higher than normal and is actually higher in the second hour and does not drop until the 3rd hour. I just found this super odd and thought someone might have some input. Thanks

Kudos to you for checking your sugars even though your numbers don't show problems. If I had done that my metabolic syndrome/pre-diabetic diagnosis would not have been a surprise. Keep it up!

As far as your 134mg/dl 2hr post-pranadial, don't let it wrinkle your panties. If you're worried, keep a daily log of both your fasting and pre- and post-prandial numbers for a month or three. If you graph this, you will invariably see many aberrational one-off measurements. I mainly watch my trends. But if a food or drink results in > 200mg/dl 1 or 2 hour posprandial, I'm reluctant to give it another try. A food which yielded 134mg/dl 2hr postprandial? I'd give it another go and retest.

I will keep everyone posted I have gut down to 1 digestive enzyme and will let you know how it affects BS. It is either the chromium or the digestive enzyme. My only thought is maybe the 2 enzymes are breaking down the food to fast?? let me know if anyone has any ideas?? Thanks

When you use broad spectrum enzymes, eat less food except high fibre vegetables, and high fibre low sugar fruits such as apples and not-too-ripe pears.

You're now absorbing more of the fats from the butter (fats require more insulin) and more of the sugars from the grapefruit (sugars require more insulin) and your pancreas hasn't adjusted to create more insulin, hence your blood sugar remains higher than it needs to be.

The money you spend on digestive enzymes you can save on food.

###

People who ordinarily eat very little, and introduce digestive enzymes, find that they have to eat a ton of veges simply to satisfy their fascination with chewing and to fill their bellies.

If you fall into this category, then you can kill hunger cravings by elevating seratonin, as discussed here:

Thanks for the response Chilln, I thought something to that affect. So will my body adjust if so how long does it take to adjust. Should I cut back to one pill or cut them out completely?? One one hand I think it is good to be breaking down the fats, carbs and proteins, but I don't like the elevated Blood Sugar. Let me know what you think, thanks.

If you're into life extension, then take some digestive enzymes, perhaps not so much, but also cut back on overall food intake (without cutting back on the low GI highly fibrous veg and fruit), to the point where your blood sugar is back to normal.

You don't want to ramp up your insulin, just to absorb more sugar.

For maximum life extension, you want your insulin sensitivity to be as high as you can, ie: the least amount of insulin to absorb the least amount of sugars, from the least amount of food.
